About the Event
Kicking off the London Design Festival in the London Borough of Waltham Forest!
As part of the William Morris Design Line for London Design Festival 2024, Walthamstow's Creative Business Community Hive Collective in collaboration with Yonder Workspace, will celebrate and shine a light on East London's vibrant manufacturing and making industry.
We've got an exciting line-up of passionate and EXPERT SPEAKERS:
- Professor Mark Brearley - who has spent a decade cataloguing London manufacturers who will discuss the industry's current landscape and future prospects
- Harriet Warden - Director of Blackhorse Workshop, who will be speaking about the importance of the workshop in Walthamstow and preserving essential skills.
Additionally, talented local makers will demonstrate their unique processes and tools, offering attendees insight into their craftsmanship. The event will also showcase photographs of local workshops and factories taken by Carmel King from 'Made In London', a book co-authored by Mark Brearley and Carmel King.
Come along, have some drinks and network whilst celebrating local manufacturing and making, ensuring these remain a vital part of London's economic and cultural fabric.
